1.1. Aims of the course
The aim of this course is to deepen an understanding of architecture as a discipline that is part of a complex socio-cultural environment whose knowledge can be approached from the study of disciplines located on its periphery. Thus, the main objective is to promote a critical spirit of the students by generating informed and specialized forums for debate and discussion.
1.2. Context and importance of this course in the degree
This is an optional course, which is part of the 5th year of the Degree in Architecture Studies within the line of intensification of Urban Project and Landscape.

2.2. Learning goals
The main learning goals are:
- To understand how architecture and urban planning can contribute to balance the inequalities present in European cities.
- To understand how architecture and urban planning can contribute to design sustainable and inclusive societies.
- To coordinate verbal discourse with written discourse in the development of creative processes.
- To establish a critical discourse by reading specialized texts on the subject of the course.
2.3. Importance of learning goals
As an optional course within the Urban Project and Landscape line, the debates raised will be essentially related to current demands on the field. In this sense, the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) linked to the generation of inclusive cities (SDG 11), the reduction of existing inequalities between countries (SDG 10), and gender equity (SDG 5) will be area of work.
3. Assessment (1st and 2nd call)
3.1. Assessment tasks (description of tasks, marking system and assessment criteria)
The course is structured into three sections (see point 4.3). Each section has the same value and will be evaluated autonomously (a written questionnaire), so that the final grade for the course will be the arithmetic mean of each block.

4.2. Learning tasks
- Activity 1: Lectures (M1). Each week one of the topics of the class will be presented by the professor in charge of the course.
- Activity 2: Readings (M2). Each week one or two texts (chapter books or articles) will be debate in class, so that the participation of the students is a key point of this activity.
